The key focus is on domestic production. 10% Mining, 40% Processing, 15% Recycling should originate in the EU and no more than 65% of raw materials should come from a single country outside of the EU.

Good news to mitigate this -The EU Parliament has proposed that 20% of processing capacities could be built in strategic partnerships with emerging markets and developing countries.

This is a turning point for developing countries such as Malawi with its niobium reserves.
